St Joseph’s is the Catholic Parish Church for Epsom in the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton. We are an active welcoming community, offering spiritual and pastoral support for everyone.
The first Catholic place of worship in Epsom was a cottage in Stanley Gardens in 1859, but within two years work began in Heathcote Road to build a church.
Since that time, the parish has grown and, in 2001, St Joseph’s Church moved to its current location on St Margaret Drive to accommodate the increasing numbers of parishioners. The first Mass in the new church was celebrated for Holy Thursday on 12th April 2001 and Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor consecrated the new church a few weeks later on 1st May, the feast day of St Joseph the Worker. You can read a complete history of the parish here.
Being located next to our outstanding parish primary school has meant the links between the church and the school have become even stronger. Our parish family has grown together and the school expanded from single-form entry to two-form entry. Our worshiping community is now one of the biggest in Arundel and Brighton.
